Claude Allen Haynes was born November 22, 1931, to the late Aubon Henry and Zella Spencer Haynes. He passed peacefully from this life on Monday, April 8, 2024. Claude was taught by his father at an early age that working with your hands and mind was to be a focal point of a man’s life. With that in mind, a man would always know that he would be able to provide for his family and community.

Claude graduated from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, with a degree in Business. He was a medic in the United States Navy and served his country proudly. He was a banker in Decatur, AL when he met his wife Sylvia “Jeanne” Sivley. There they started their life and family together. She was a spit fire, shared a love of philanthropy and went on to become a prominent Realtor. Jeanne was taken too early in her life. In 1974 Claude and his family moved to Naples, FL to work with Citizens National Bank. Over the next 20 years, he was involved in many of Collier County’s financial institutions. Upon retiring from a rewarding career in banking, a respected friend, Guy L. Carlton, asked him to become the Assistant Tax Collector of Collier County. He spent an additional 20 years in that position and retired to spend time with his second wife, Dorothy. Claude was blessed to have Dorothy in his life, together they shared almost 10 years of love, fun and family.

Claude was a respected member and leader of many organizations in Collier County over his many years. He was involved with North Naples Rotary Club, Commodore of the Naples Sailing and Yacht Club and was President of the Chamber of Commerce. Claude served as an elder for the Naples Church of Christ for many years and had a passion for serving the needs of the elderly members. Claude flourished in environments where customer service and personal relationships were key. He lived his life in service of others, it was at the core of his being in work and in life. Claude was greatly loved, admired, respected and appreciated by all those who knew him – he will be sorely missed.

He is survived by sister, Dolores Gott; sons, Allen and Spencer (Heather); grandsons, Andrew (Cynthia) and Clay Haynes; great grandson, Zarek; as well as dear nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by Sylvia Jeanne Haynes and Dorothy Haynes; brothers, Douglas, Floyd and Ray Haynes; twin sister, Maude Barr; daughter-in-law, Michelle and precious granddaughter, Maitlin Haynes.

A memorial service followed by a reception will be held at the Naples Church of Christ,12760 Livingston Road, Naples, FL 34105 on Monday, April 29, 2024 beginning at 12:00 Noon.
