Joan Catherine Sotak, age 83, of the Villages, Florida went to be with our Lord and Savior on March 26, 2024 peacefully in her sleep. She was born on July 24, 1941 in Cleveland, Ohio.

She was the beloved sister and best friend of Charlotte Sotak who passed away on May 11, 2022. She graduated from Lourdes Academy in Cleveland, Ohio, and went on to a 44-year career in education. She was born to be a teacher and taught for 13 years in Ohio. Her students adored her. In 1984, she and her sister Charlotte moved to Naples, Florida where she continued teaching for another 31 years.

Joan shared her deep faith with her Church Community and was the Director of RCIA, for over 12 years. She retired in 2007. With her sister they moved to the Villages, Florida. Together they enjoyed getting together with friends, going on various cruises and entertaining family from Ohio, especially during the winter months.

Joan is survived by her much-loved sister-in-law, Shirley Sotak; nephews, Terence Neal (Judi) Sotak, Thomas Paul (Jodie) Sotak; niece-in-law, Susan Sotak; great nephews, Christopher (Heather) Sotak, and Matthew Sotak; great-niece, Alexa Sotak; and great-great nephew, Nicholas; and great-great niece, Emily.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles, and Anna (nee Schultz) Sotak; sister, Charlotte Sotak; brother, Theodore Bernard Sotak; and nephew, Theodore Mark Sotak.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 5130 Rattlesnake Hammock Road, Naples, Florida. Final resting Place will be beside her beloved sister, Charlotte, at St. Peter Columbarium.
