Corey passed away on April 23, 2024 in Akron, OH. He was only 37 years old. Heaven is getting their best little angel to help up there, just like he did here on earth. Our sweet Corey can run again, eat out at restaurants, and have all of the milkshakes that he wants!

Corey was born with Mitochondrial Disease, and his life has never been easy. He was faced with challenges that many of us can scarcely imagine. While this rare disease has impacted his mobility and his mental abilities, it has not diminished his spirit. He was awarded the Student of the Month in Revere School District, not for his academics, but for his warm and funny personality and the impact he had on all the students around him.

Corey has reminded us that every individual has a valuable role to play in this world, regardless of their abilities. He taught us the importance of empathy, acceptance, and inclusion, breaking down the barriers that so often separate us. He was the class clown with his always funny comments (many of which he may not have appreciated what he said).

While Corey was not able to participate in most sports, he was always an active participant as a sideline cheerleader for his brothers and their friends. He loved going to camp, eating out, watching sports, shooting baskets in the driveway, and all the people he met.

He is survived by his mother, Carol Jones, loving and caring stepfather Edwin Jones, his father Bill Frantz, stepmom Jenny Frantz, his two brothers Collin (Erica) Frantz who live in Edina, MN and Ryan (Rachel) Jun who live in Upper Arlington, OH. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Jack, Grace and Connor Frantz and many aunts and uncles. He was very fortunate to have his long-time care giver, Kim Ramsey, in his life. Kim was family to us! The family also wants to thank Kevin Pickard from Summit DD, Constant Companions, Blick Clinic, Robin Coleman, and Akron General Hospice.

Calling hours will be on Sunday April 28, 2024 at Hummel Funeral Home at 3475 Copley Road, Copley, OH from 3 to 5pm. Funeral Services will be on Monday April 29, 2024 at the Bath United Church of Christ at 3980 W Bath Road, Bath, OH at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation, https://give.umdf.org/team/580310 PLEASE no black. We kindly ask you to wear bright colors in celebration of Corey's life.
