Now You Know: Center for the Arts unveils 2024-25 lineup

The Marco Island Center for the Arts recently announced its lineup of productions for the 2024-2025 season at the Arts Center Theatre.

Offering a diverse range of shows, the season promises to “captivate audiences of all ages with its blend of classic favorites and contemporary delights.”

Running from Nov. 6 to April 13, the season will showcase a variety of performances, scheduled Wednesdays through Sundays. Evening shows will take place Wednesday through Friday at 7:30 p.m., while matinees will be held on Saturdays and Sundays at 3 p.m.

First up, the musical adaptation of “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown (Revised),” bringing to life the beloved characters from the Peanuts comic strip by Charles M. Schulz. This production features the music, book, and lyrics by Clark Gesner and directed by Christopher Dayett.

In December, it’s “Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some!)” by Michael Carleton, James Fitzgerald, and John K. Alvarez. Directed by Andre Degas, this festive show offers a unique twist on traditional holiday fare, featuring a “madcap journey through every Christmas story imaginable.”

January brings Neil Simon’s classic comedy “The Last of the Red Hot Lovers,” directed by Cheryl Duggan, followed by another Simon gem, “The Odd Couple,” directed by Paula Keenan, in February.

March will take audiences on a wild ride with “Boeing, Boeing” by Marc Camoletti, under the direction of Marilee Warner, while April concludes the season with the delightful comedy “Four Old Broads” by Leslie Kimbell, directed by Christi Lueck-Sadiq.

Season subscription tickets for all six shows are available for purchase now through the Marco Island Center for the Arts website at marcoislandart.org/2024-2025-season-tickets/, offering patrons the opportunity to experience the full spectrum of entertainment this season. Single tickets for mainstage production will go on sale on the website in June.

The League Club presents $15,000 grant to St. Matthew’s House

The League Club recently awarded $15,000 to support St. Matthew’s House and its efforts to care for senior women experiencing homelessness.

St. Matthew’s House operates the only two homeless shelters in Collier County, the Campbell Lodge.

According to The League Club President Mary Ann Lillie, “For over 37 years, The League Club has honored its Commitment to Community by raising funds and distributing them through grants made to carefully vetted nonprofit agencies throughout Collier and Lee counties. These grants address the needs of at-risk children, families, the elderly and veterans. To date, The League Club has awarded over $7.3 million dollars to deserving grant applicants. The League Club is proud of our Commitment to Community and our ability to assist agencies dealing with food scarcity, housing, education, physical and mental health, and the arts. While fulfilling our mission, we are helping to fill the critical human needs that exist in our communities. This mission is truly the heart and soul of The League Club.”

St. Matthew’s House shelters 400 men, women and children every night. In addition, St. Matthew’s House operates soup kitchens, mobile food pantries, transitional and permanent supportive housing facilities, substance abuse recovery programs, and employment training initiatives.

“With this grant we will be able to provide case management and wraparound services for senior women residing in our shelters,” said St. Matthew’s House CEO Steve Brooder. “This funding will not only help meet their immediate needs for safe and stable housing but also empower them to rebuild their lives with dignity and independence. We are committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of these vulnerable individuals. This grant brings us one step closer to achieving our mission of helping all who come to us journey from crisis to contributor.”

Lisa Marquette joins The Immokalee Foundation

The Immokalee Foundation recently announced that Lisa Marquette has joined their staff in the new position of director of philanthropy and planned giving.

A recent transplant to Southwest Florida, Marquette comes to The Immokalee Foundation with over 17 years of development experience — specifically in planned giving.

Marquette began her development career at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, serving their student population from 2007 to 2018. Next, she assumed the role of development director at Volunteers in Service to the Elderly, a social services nonprofit in Lakeland, Florida.

The Immokalee Foundation recently announced that Lisa Marquette has joined their staff in the new position of director of philanthropy and planned giving.

As director of philanthropy and planned giving, Marquette will help supporters establish their legacy while transforming the lives of Immokalee’s youth. She will provide her expertise and individualized guidance in selecting the planned giving vehicle that is most meaningful to them and aligns with their philanthropic goals. Planned giving opportunities include charitable trusts, life insurance, appreciated securities and real estate.
